With the wide application of reflective road stud in domestic high-grade highways and municipal roads, the quality problems and service life of raised pavement marker have attracted more attention. In the actual application process, the problem of installation often leads to the damage of the raised pavement marker and the decrease of its service life.
The following are some problems that often occur during the installation of reflective road studs:
Marking is also a kind of resin material. It is also attached to the ground. Its connection force with the ground is
limited. If the raised pavement marker is installed on the marking line, the impact force of the raised pavement
marker will be completely transferred to the marking line, so that the raised pavement marker is easy to be
impacted off, and the marking line will also be glued off.
The direct result is that the force on the reflective road stud is uneven, and the pressure on the raised pavement
marker is almost all concentrated in the convex and concave parts. If a large tonnage vehicle is encountered, the
reflective road stud is easy to break.
The firmness of the raised pavement marker depends on the close combination of the raised pavement marker, glue and the ground. If the installation position is not clean, the dust in it will absorb most of the adhesive force of the glue, resulting in the poor adhesion of the raised pavement marker, which is easy to fall off when it is impacted by external force.
If the dosage is not enough, it will reduce the firm degree of the raised pavement marker and its service life; if the
dosage is too much, the excess glue will seep out from around the reflective road stud, and it is easy to rub on the
reflector of the stud, which will affect its reflective brightness.
When installing the raised pavement marker, the glue should not only be used properly, but also be applied
evenly, so as to ensure that all parts of the raised pavement marker are evenly stressed and avoid being crushed
due to uneven stress.
The installation glue of the raised pavement marker is epoxy resin, which is a two-component glue. The glue and curing agent should be proportioned according to a certain
proportion, and they can play their role only after being evenly stirred. However, due to the severe condensation of epoxy resin glue in winter, it is not easy to mix evenly, so it must be heated before use to soften the glue.
When handling the reflective road studs, be sure to pinch the two sides without reflectors, so as not to glue
the reflectors to affect the reflectors' brightness.
This is mainly aimed at cast aluminum reflective road stud with shank. Because of its part going deep into the
ground, it has better impact resistance, compression resistance and longer service life. But in the installation
process, if the hole position is too shallow or too thin, then the bottom of the raised pavement marker can
not fully contact with the ground, which affects the firmness of the bonding.
After the installation of the raised pavement marker, it will take a period of time for the glue to solidify before the reflective road stud can be tightly connected to the ground. The recommended time is 6-8 hours. But in the actual process, many people remove the isolation facilities less than two hours after the installation; in this case, if impacted and rolled by vehicles, the raised pavement marker will deform or fall off.
