Solar road stud or solar road marker, is one of the spike, set up along the road pavement, for the night or rain fog weather, indicating the direction of road, It is composed of reverse reflection material, shell, solar panel, LED and control device. Vision-inducing facilities with active lighting and passive reflective properties are often used in combination with road marking lines.
During the day, solar panels absorb sunlight and convert the solar energy into electrical energy, which is stored in energy storage devices (batteries or capacitors). At night, the electrical energy in the energy storage devices is automatically converted into light energy (controlled by photoelectric switches) and emitted by LED Bright light outlines the road and draws the driver's attention.
Solar road stud can be divided into embedded type and raised type according to different installation position.
The former is usually used in the center line and the latter in the edge line. This is because the solar road marker which installed in the middle line resistance pressure performance requirements are particularly high, in order to solve this problem, must to bury the solar road stud into the ground, only exposed to the ground about 5 mm. However, the anti-compressive performance requirements of the solar road marker used on the edge line are not particularly high, and the protruding ground can still work effectively.
Solar road studs can be divided into capacitive and battery types according to different energy storage elements. The former has a service life of five to seven years, and the latter has a service life of generally one to three years.
Because the embedded solar road studs cause great damage to the road surface, and the capacitive solar road markers are too expensive, the most commonly used current is the raised battery solar road studs.
